He has wide experience in supporting media development projects across anglophone west African countries, and is well versed in the key challenges surrounding media innovation, development and capacity building. Afane Badji is a translator with CfA's iLAB team, passionate about communication and cultural exchange. He has contributed significantly to the field, notably with Africans Rising, a pan-African movement for justice, peace, and dignity. Afane has led West Africa's first accelerator for cosmetic companies and finds inspiration in poetry and spoken-word, using it for personal enrichment and social commentary.

Alicia is the senior product manager at sensors.AFRICA. She oversees a team of hardware engineers and technologists who utilise sensors and other data sources to monitor environmental hazards. With a decade of experience in sustainable development projects, she has led research initiatives in partnership with local governments and international organisations like the World Bank, ILO and UNDP.

Anita Igbine is an investigative data analyst with the iLAB team. With a background in engineering, she has contributed to two dossiers tracking coordinated inauthentic behaviour across Africa. She also trains journalists to leverage data and social media for stories.

Arame Thiam is a data analyst at CfA's Knowledge team, overseeing local CfA communities in Senegal. She manages the Hacks/Hackers digital activist/journalist community, the WanaData network for women data scientists/journalists, and other Francophone communities. Arame also leads learn-by-doing training for Knowledge, collaborating with partner newsrooms, universities, and organisations. Prior to joining CfA, Arame worked as a data analyst at the Institut Pasteur de Dakar, handling large volumes of clinical data for informed public health decisions during the Covid-19 pandemic. She also served as project supervisor at Greening Africa Together (GATo), an academic network on sustainable development and green energies based in TU Berlin, Germany. Arame is presently based in Senegal.

Cavan Davids is the chief financial officer at Code for Africa and board member of both CfA Kenya and Civic Foundation Nigeria. He has also held board positions in various other non-profit civic organizations. He also worked as a journalist at Radio Culture in Burundi and has led a dynamic team of multilingual and multicultural translators at Rundi Language Hub.

Chris Roper is the deputy CEO for Code for Africa, and director for the African Network of Centres for Investigative Reporting. From 2015 - 2019, Chris’ role at CfA was underwritten by a Knight International Fellowship, with the ICFJ. Prior to joining CfA, Chris was editor-in-chief of the Mail & Guardian, and editor-in-chief of Africa’s largest online publisher, 24.com.
