Arame Thiam is a data analyst at CfA's Knowledge team, overseeing local CfA communities in Senegal. She manages the Hacks/Hackers digital activist/journalist community, the WanaData network for women data scientists/journalists, and other Francophone communities. Arame also leads learn-by-doing training for Knowledge, collaborating with partner newsrooms, universities, and organisations. Prior to joining CfA, Arame worked as a data analyst at the Institut Pasteur de Dakar, handling large volumes of clinical data for informed public health decisions during the Covid-19 pandemic. She also served as project supervisor at Greening Africa Together (GATo), an academic network on sustainable development and green energies based in TU Berlin, Germany. Arame is presently based in Senegal.
