Description

Hacks/Hackers is an international grassroots community of people who seek to inspire and inform each other to build the future of media. The community is composed of "hacks" (journalists) and "hackers" (technologists) who work together to create physical and digital spaces for exploring new ways to tell stories. They collaborate on projects and ventures, sharing information and code to rethink the future of news and information Hacks/Hackers Africa is committed to open source/knowledge principles and includes both non-profit projects and for-profit startups. It is part of a network that aims to strengthen digital democracy on the continent by liberating 'deadwood' information through digitisation and pioneering new watchdog initiatives The community also hosts events and meetups to discuss topics like digital democracy.
